Duromina, literally means "to improve their lives" in Afan Oromo. The Duromina Cooperative was formed by around 100 farmers looking to do exactly that. The conditions in this region had always been favourable to growing coffee, what was needed next was greater quality control. 

Using an initiative set up international non profit TechnoServe, the farmers gained access to technical support, business advice and finance. This then allowed them to install a wet mill and start producing washed coffees for the first time.

From there, Duromina became an award winning cooperative with some of their coffees selected as the best in Africa.
